How to Get Your Message to the Newsroom

A clear, well-organised message helps us respond faster and makes it easier to follow up on a story. Whether you are writing about a development in your municipio, a cultural event, or a decision by local government, a few simple steps will help your note reach the right person.

Sending a news tip

Tell us what happened, where it happened and when, as precisely as you can. Name the colonia, town or municipio and include any public documents, photos or links that support what you are describing. If you witnessed something yourself, say so. If you heard it from someone else, say that too. We check information independently before publishing, so leaving a way to reach you for follow-up questions is very useful. If you would rather not be named, say so clearly in your first message.

Requesting a correction

We want our reporting on Toluca and Estado de México to be accurate. If you spot an error, include:

• the headline or address of the article
• the specific sentence or detail you believe is wrong
• what you believe is correct, with a source where possible

Before you write, you can use the archive search to check whether a story has already been updated or followed up.

Events, community notices and general enquiries

Festivals, exhibitions, neighbourhood meetings and civic announcements are part of what we cover. Send details well in advance and include the organiser's public contact information so readers can confirm times and arrangements directly. For general comments, suggestions for coverage or questions about the site, a short message with a descriptive subject line is the best way to start.
